Step 1: Define the outcome in plain English
Not “AI transformation”. Not “automation”.
Pick one:

- improve first-time fix in service desk
- speed up document handling
- reduce time spent searching internal knowledge
If you can’t define the outcome, you can’t measure value.
And you’ll end up paying for activity instead.
Step 2: Set boundaries before you pick vendors
This is the part most organisations leave too late — and then must unwind.
Your boundaries answer questions like:
- What data is allowed to be used? What is off-limits?
